Dreaming a new structure

The Boulder Center for Conscious Living has been open for over two years now. When we first opened the BCCL, we knew what we wanted: to have a space that would support people to live consciously. Those of us that had learned the principles of conscious living through Gay and Katie Hendricks would have a place to stay connected with each other while we took the work of transparency, responsibility, and appreciation out to the larger world. We’d have community.

In these two years, we’ve tweaked and fine-tuned and played around with this original vision. Now we’re preparing  to invent BCCL 2.0. It’s still coming into view, as we continue to wonder “what wants to happen?” Understanding that the BCCL is its own entity that is finding its own path makes life quite interesting, as it hasn’t learned to speak English yet, so we can only intuit what it wants to grow up to be. I keep landing on the vision of “co-creating conscious community,” having a sense that there’s a way to create a network of people who want to live from integrity, purpose, and essence, and who know that, the larger the circle, the more resources there are for each of us to draw from and be inspired by.

So, what will this look like? I see something like the Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz, where there’s lots of creative hubbub, a sense of expansiveness and possibility in the air, and plenty of glitter. People would come together to support each other’s personal transformation, as well as to share business and other expertise. There would be plenty of connecting and networking going on, while each would be valued and loved for her or his unique gifts and offerings.

One important difference about this Emerald City? Each person would be his or her own wizard.

Stay tuned for more information on what we create next together–I can’t wait!

  1. I love this vision, Julie! And I love the Wizard of Oz books, so count me in. This is a story I want to live – community and work and play all coming together and becoming more the sum of its parts. It’s off to a good start! Let’s follow the yellow brick road on this co-creative adventure!

  2. This is a superb post and may be one that needs to be followed up to see how things go

A mate sent this link the other day and I’m eagerly waiting your next write. Keep on on the the best work.
